THERE IS SOMETHING ABOUT MAURICE!

Felicity knocked on the door frantically.

“Maurice, Robin, open up.”

Opening the door, Maurice said, “Fel, what happened? What’s all this noise about?”

“Lily – she’s fallen unconscious and the warden isn’t opening her door.”

“What the hell! What were you girls doing?” asked Robin.

They quickly went to Felicity’s room. While walking Fel explained, “nothing really! Lily wanted to hear a story and I was telling her one. At one of the juiciest portions, she just fainted.”

Robin checked for Lily’s pulse.

“Stupid! She is not dead or anything, just unconscious”, Maurice explained.

“And you say the warden is not opening the door. Great! Anything else?” asked Robin

“I doubt if the warden would be able to do anything even if she wakes up. She’s a pill in these things,” said Maurice.

“So basically we are stuck,” said Felicity and sat on the bed.

“No. Let’s just take a minute and think about what we can do. Has anyone here ever fainted?” asked Maurice.

She looked around. But she could see no one had.

“OK. The only thing I recall is watching something in the movies. Felicity, Robin, try splashing some water on her face. Until that time, I will call my Dad’s friend – Dev Uncle, he is a doctor. I just hope he picks up the mobile at this hour. Why can’t we have a 911 helpline like in the US?”

The girls got busy but the water didn’t work. By now, they were getting tensed. Maurice spoke to Dev Uncle and then quickly made two more calls.

“We will have to take Lily to the hospital. I have called an ambulance and informed the main gate. Now let’s all go and bang our heads at the warden’s door otherwise we’ll be stuck here till she gets up.”

The girls ran to the warden’s room and started knocking frantically. By now, they were sure more girls would be out listening to their commotion.

“I will call her on her cell,” said Robin.

But before she could call, the door opened.

“What has happened, girls?” asked the warden.

Maurice quickly filled her in with the details and asked her to open the main door.

The warden did as Maurice instructed.

By now other girls – both junior and senior were out of their rooms and the warden seemed more worried about the crowd.

“Girls, we need to take Lily to the hospital. Nothing can be done now. The ambulance is on the way. I would appreciate if you all went back to your rooms and let us concentrate on the situation at hand,” said Maurice trying to handle the scene.

Maurice had a point, which her friends understood and listened to.

When the ambulance came, Maurice took care of everything and left with the warden, Felicity and Lily in it.
